The Mad River Rotary Club is to be commended for the grant it provided to provide warm, wool socks for the guests filling the emergency cold-weather shelter in Barre. With guidance from Clearwater Sports and Onion River Sports, the Rotary funds went far. With the addition of a contribution from Darn Tough, the socks were purchased at below wholesale cost.
This supply of socks was supplemented by donations of warm, new wool socks by a number of Valley residents.
It's great to live in a place where the needs of others are recognized and addressed with generosity. Thank you Rotary and Valley residents. So far, over 70 pairs of good new socks have been distributed and are warming the feet of our neighbors in Barre. There are another 90 pairs to distribute this winter.
