Greetings, and welcome to winter’s home stretch. The sun is warmer, the back roads softer, but winter has her hand on us yet (be patient, Susan!).
I am so pleased with the recent addition of several new members to the MRV Rotary! Welcome to all of you! It will take a little time to “find your place”, to find the service direction that feeds you. To both new and long-time members, we have several outlets for service projects and volunteer efforts. We all have different interests and differing availability of time. Don’t feel you “should” or “must” choose a service project, but service is at the core of our mission. “Service above Self” is the primary Rotary motto. Another way to help is to volunteer to work on a fundraising project. We have several that take time and effort and include (with current key contact in parentheses):
Sponsorship (Tom Emory)
Duck Race (Doug Reid)
July 4 (Ben Olds)
vonTrapp Garden registration table (Jane Macan)
Restaurant Raffle (Tom Emory)
Camp Takumta (Dave Koeple)
Scholarship (Mike Leichliter)
Food Pantry (Doug Stoehr)
Neck of the Woods (Karl Klein/Gordon Hoare)
Our most pressing need for a volunteer or two is to assist in Sponsorship which kicks off this month. Tom Emory has laid out the initiative in a complete document. It includes tasks like sending a note to prior year sponsors, or stopping to see them personally. It’s following up on those who do not respond timely. It’s seeking new local sponsorship opportunities and thinking of new and different ways to do that. There is a lot of support available for someone who may like to explore this important volunteer effort. Please contact Tom or me if you are willing to explore this important initiative.
