Meet Rotarian, Bonnie Barnes!

I grew up outside of Philadelphia, attended Denson University and married George
Barnes from Syracuse, NY in 1962.

We lived for 30 years on a small farm in Chester County, PA and raised three children there.
In those years, I earned a MA in English and Classical Literature at Villanova and an MS in Education and Psychology from UPenn.
During that time, I also trained at Child Guidance in Philadelphia, was a family therapist, a psychologist at Benchmark School and started an educational consulting firm.

George was an avid skier and we found and fell in love with the Mad River Valley in the early 1970’s through friends and skiing during holiday vacations.

In 1980, we built a house on Bragg Hill, became part time residents and skied at Mad River Glen any chance we got.
We became original shareholders at Mad River Glen when Betsy sold it and were also long time Amateur Ski Club members.

After my husband’s death and the COVID pandemic, I moved to the Valley full time.
As a new resident, I joined Mad River Valley Arts and Rotary to become more engaged with the community.

The Rotary Club is important to me because of the great work it does supporting very significant local initiatives and causes. It helps bring me purpose and a sense of
usefulness in the wonderful Valley with values close to my own. Fundraising for the organization has been a rewarding part of my life; learning about the great local
businesses and meeting interesting and dedicated people.
