MRV Rotary is welcoming a few new members!  Typically Karen Winchell (thank you, Karen!) schedules them asap for their intro speech but we are all so busy these days and not wanting to delay the welcomes any longer, they have offered to provide me with brief bios. They are not skipping out on their "stand up routines" so stay tuned for their scheduled dates and in the meantime, when you see them around, let's all give them the MRV Rotary Welcome! New members:  Kira Bacon, Jeff Friedman, John Reynolds, Judy Bowen, Cynthia Hoare, Betsy Wilkinson.
What follows is a bio for new member, Kira Bacon. More to come.

Where you grew up?

I grew up in Center City Philadelphia, one of six kids. I escaped to Colorado and then Washington State for college. I fell in love with the mountains and the Puget Sound and lived there for more than 30 years (with a bit of a detour to Maryland and California).

-How long you have been in the Mad River Valley?

I moved to Montpelier in 2013 to be closer to family and was drawn to the Valley three years later.

-What you did for a career or are doing now

My career took a number of twists and turns, but for the most part, I worked in corporate and nonprofit communications for 25 years. I’m basically retired now, but work part time at Neck of the Woods and teach skiing to kids at Sugarbush.

-Favorite activities

I’ve always been drawn to the mountains and enjoy skiing and hiking with my two dogs. I’m trying to learn paddle boarding. I also do a bit of rug hooking.

I live in a tiny house in the woods!
