Dear Fellow Rotarians,
August was a productive month for our club, with an excellent group of speakers and plenty happening beyond our regular meetings.
We heard from fellow Rotarians Pete Colgan and Sparky Potter, on their reflections. We also had a visit from Misha Golfman, who shared an update on the merger of the Mad River Path and Mad River Riders. Finally, we had the opportunity to hear from Silas Gulley, our MRV Rotary Exchange Student to Ecuador before he left for the year abroad. Thank you to all of our speakers for taking the time to join us and share their experiences and work.
A Busy Labor Day Weekend
September gets off to a busy start with two of our club's important annual fundraisers.
Our von Trapp Garden fundraiser continues to go very well and concludes on Saturday, September 5, from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Thank you to Sally and Tobi von Trapp, Jane Macan, and the many Rotarians who have helped make another season of Garden Days successful.
The very next day, Sunday, September 6, is our annual Mad River Valley Rotary Duck Race at the Lareau Swimming Hole. Thousands of yellow rubber ducks will once again make their way down the Mad River, with cash prizes for the winning ducks. The Duck Race has become a Labor Day weekend tradition and is an important fundraiser for the service projects our club supports throughout the year.
I hope many of you will be able to join us for both events. They are also great opportunities to invite friends and neighbors to learn a little more about Rotary.
Looking Ahead
As summer winds down, we have another full month of meetings, speakers, and opportunities to serve ahead of us. I appreciate everyone who has volunteered at events, helped with our fundraisers, attended meetings, or contributed in other ways during these first two months of our Rotary year.
I look forward to seeing many of you at the gardens, the Duck Race, and our September meetings.
