I didn't make it to breakfast today since my truck skidded on ice and ended up very stuck on the side of my driveway. I had to tow it from the snowbank.
If I did make it, I would have given you all a GREAT THANKS for helping with the Restaurant Raffle. Your gathering of gift certificates, selling at Mehuron's, and sending out requests on Rallyup is what makes the project work each year.
The drawing was January 17. As witnessed by Gordon and Cynthia, I triggered the drawing in Rallyup and quickly created the list of 112 winning tickets selected at random from the approximately 3700 tickets sold. The total net to Rotary after fees was about $16,000. As of now, all gift certificates except two have been mailed to the winners. Still trying to find addresses for them. Kate is helping with that.
I especially want to thank Gordon and Bonnie for helping gather lots of tickets. Gordon also deserves a special thanks for working with me at Mehuron's on five separate weeks. The rotary member with the highest amount of sales to his credit was Pete Colgan. Pete has mastered Rallyup and managed to sell almost $3,000 in tickets using this online tool. Thank you to Pete for making it possible for us to avoid extended selling in the cold at Mehuron's and still being able to meet our goal of $15k. Next year we will all take a class from you.
Per our custom, we gave 40 complementary tickets to Mehuron's in exchange for letting us harass their customers. This year they were pleased when one of their employees won a gift certificate.
Of course, this raffle would not take place without the generous contributions from our area food establishments. Please be sure to thank them whenever you can for their donations of gift certificates. Many of them always are pleased to support our Rotary and have donated gift certificates year after year.
