The other big event for the club started out as a “sleeper” event a few years ago, and that is the vonTrapp Open Garden weekends. The club made over $13,000 by partnering with Tobi and Sally vonTrapp to assist them at the front/greeting table. Who knew the potential - other than Jane! She went with her gut and said the Rotary would be happy to help, and in turn we would receive 50% of the proceeds. Three years later, it’s a huge event!
Our Rotary Exchange student, Emil (from Sweden) is now tucked in with his host family in Waitsfield (Sally Kendall/Jeremy Gully). I will be spending time with him the first weekend of September at an event in NH for all the District exchange students. We will get him to an upcoming club meeting to introduce him. I believe he will be coming to the dinner meeting on September 17 with his host family.
September will bring a club vote for/against a bylaws amendment to allow for corporate members (9/10), as well as a short online survey on your personal club experience as a member. I also hope September brings continued healing to our dear Past President, Mike, as he continues on the path to recovery following a serious health issue. We can’t wait until he is well enough for visits from club members. We’ve gotcha, Mike!
See you all soon.
Susan
