Rick Hendricks, relatively new to the Mad River Valley and a new Rotarian, gave his new member introduction at a recent breakfast held at the Village Meeting House. He presented elements of his life story based on the theme of “Moving and Serving”. Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area and following his 28 year career in the Army retiring as a Sergeant Major with the Chaplain Corps, Rick and his spouse Lori Daiello, have settled in Warren.
They chose Warren as the place to put down roots as they were attracted by the natural beauty of the area, the welcoming nature of the people, and an involved community. Rick reported having lived in 11 different states (3 twice at different times) with not having celebrated more than 4 birthdays in any one location. As he journeyed, he served his communities as a youth sports coach, a political campaign manager, and on numerous boards (Church, School Board President, Professional Associations) and now as a Licensed Marriage and Family therapist. He recently “pre-tired” from the VA as a Deputy District Director overseeing 21 Vet Centers serving Combat Veterans and their families’ mental health needs. He maintains a small private practice here in Vermont seeing couples by telehealth. Lori is a research scientist and professor at Brown University. Currently they travel between Rhode Island and Vermont until she retires at the end of this year. Rick has 3 sons and 6 grandchildren scattered across the country.
