I have the pleasure of presenting another very public thank you to a member who is present this evening.

It will be hard for me to read this without giving away who it is, but I will try.

This person has been a long time member of our club, serving in many capacities. This person was nominated not by one, but by two different members independently

In fact, this member was nominated for a Rotary International Service Above Self Award in the most recent round of submissions. I will say that in the process of nominating this person, I learned the nomination must come from the District Governor. Once the details and relevant info was unearthed, I also learned that there could only be one nomination per round made by the DG. Another had already been submitted – but rest assured we will try again.

I tell you this not because this person will be surely be selected, but because those who nominated this person were so passionate in their enthusiasm for all [insert name] has done and continues to do for this club.

Two themes emerged as I was exploring this person more fully. #1, they are indispensable. And #2 they.are.always.there.  No matter where you turn, this person has already been there and cleared the path for us to achieve our highest potential as a club and frankly, as individuals.

They are one of the most dependable, thoughtful and stalwart members of this club. I think you will all agree as I ask you to stand and honor Tom Emory.

Thank you, Tom.
