A word from MRV Rotary President, Mike Curtin.....

Dear Fellow MRV Rotarians,

What a month it has been since I became president! Our July 4th parade was excellent, thanks to Ben Olds and Susan Klein, who gave the Valley a truly wonderful day in Warren. The many moving parts were managed smoothly, from no-parking signs to Duck Race and T-shirt sales, Buddy Badges, hot dog sales, and tent setups. Truly amazing!

Speaking of Duck Sales, we are well into the season! Many thanks to those who have already pulled a shift or helped with setup and takedown at the Farmers Market. If you haven’t signed up yet, please look for an open slot on the schedule or stop by and pitch in. We are at Mehurons on Friday and the Farmers Market on Saturday.

The von Trapp Open Garden Days have been a terrific success and a huge fundraiser for our club. There are very few slots left, but please consider signing up.

Work on the playground fence and painting of the new indoor area has begun at Neck of the Woods. Many thanks to all who have been onsite helping with these projects. I was there on Saturday and it was wonderful to see Nick Newman (2024 MRV Rotary Scholarship winner) on site, covered in dirt and sweat, setting posts.

Most importantly, I hope all our members have weathered the July flooding that dramatically impacted our community’s roads and property. I want to especially acknowledge Pete Colgan for his exemplary work during the aftermath. Pete stepped up to coordinate local volunteers and appeals for help, spending his days in the community with a shovel in hand. Pete’s efforts exemplify what being a Rotarian and a People of Action is all about. Well done, Pete.

Thank you all for making our club the wonderful organization it is! We should all be very proud of what we have built and what we continue to build upon.

Mike
