A lot of action in the world of MRV Rotary since the last newsletter. Probably the most significant is that we now have a new President, Ed McDonough. So many thanks to Ed for taking over these reigns and even more gratitude to Peter Colgan for his year of service leading the Club. The Changeover dinner at the General Starks Pub at Mad River was a fabulous success with many thanks to Jane Macan for organizing it. Food and drink were delicious, weather was perfect and friendship warm - not to mention lots of laughter.
Well the July 4 parade frenzy is in the rear view mirror thanks to Susan Klein's organized leadership (or is it more like wrangling the herds?). We are also incredibly grateful to the 20 or so Rotarians and a handful of spouses who generously donated their valuable time to the cause. This year was my first experience selling Buddy Badges and husband Howard and I had a ball! They really do sell themselves.
Now onto the Labor Day weekend Duck Race being overseen by the amazing Kim Olds. Her update follows:
Thank you to everyone who has volunteered to sell in person tickets. We have raised HALF of our funds to date through in person ticket sales at Mehurons, the farmers market & during the 4th of July parade.
Marketing has been in the valley arts brochure, the Valley Reporter & float at the 4th of July parade
There is a clear demand for duck tickets. People are flocking to the in person ticket tables. Please circulate the rally up web site to your friends and family.
As of 7/11/22, we have raised $5,556
Jane Macan has been busy organizing a fundraiser for Rotary - tours of the lovely von Trapp display gardens. For more information about these weekend tours and to purchase tickets, see the Story below.
The 4th of July Parade was a huge success as is often the case and went off with barely a glitch. Many people did more than one job, others just jumped in including spouses/partners. The day could not have happened without the approx. 20 Rotarians and everyone else.
The Mad River Valley Rotary Club is pleased to announce a fundraising collaboration with the von Trapp Greenhouse. Sally and Tobi have offered to open their display garden 208 Common Road, Waitsfield) to visitors on July 22nd/July 23rd, August 5th/6th, August 19th/20th and September 2nd/3rd from 9:00-3:00 each day. $10.00 per adult, children under 18 free. Rotary members and friends will staff the event and handle ticket sales. Stay tuned for more information on how to volunteer for a shift to staff the event. All funds raised will go back to the community through Rotary grants. To purchase tickets, click the following square link.
