MRV Rotary Newsletter
November, 2023

Good day, Rotarians!  Hope you all made it to your Sunday morning commitments at the right time yesterday.   With cell phones and some car clocks adjusting and informing us of the time change, the likelihood of messing up is hopefully minimized.

Last month I think I shared with you how much I enjoy this time of year. Reinforcing that, I love the way the colors of fall retreat and give way to cooler, crisper, shorter days of November. That makes way for the beauty of freshly fallen snow soon to grace our mountains. Skiing is not far off!

Onto Rotary activities and our upcoming meeting schedule. We have begun having breakfast meetings at the Waitsfield Village Meeting House again catered, thankfully, by Toast and Eggs. Our October dinner meeting at the space above Valley Meade was quite successful and catered by Kitchenette. Thank you Emily Shea and Jane Macan for your work!  Our November 15 dinner meeting will be a Zoom meeting.  No meeting on the 22nd. December 13 is a regular breakfast meeting and our Holiday gathering is now on the 20th of December at the space above Valley Meade. This is a change from previous plans. Plans for catering the holiday gathering are underway. It will not be a dinner event but rather a cocktail party with appetizers. Stay tuned for more information on this.  The current plan is for Zoom dinner meetings in January, February and March.

Please remember that Board meetings are open to all members to attend. They are on Zoom the first Tuesday of the month and are a wonderful way for members to stay connected to all that is going on. A link to the Zoom should be on the calendar but if for some reason it is not, just reach out to a Board member who will send it to you.

Volunteer opportunities abound right now. Volunteers have been generous with their time building window insulations, supporting an event for Central Vermont Home Health and Hospice, and helping with the vaccination clinic. Many helped me with spreading the good news about MRV Rotary at a recent Open House at Emily's Bar and Bistro. Being a Greeter at a meeting is always a great way to meet people. Delivering food for the Community Pantry takes very little time and is so appreciated. . You can sign up for either of those by copying and pasting this link in your browser. https://www.mrvrotary.org/page/members-only.  Thanks as always to Doug Stoehr for leading this effort and thank you as well to all those who sign up for these important efforts!

Most importantly right now you can sign up to help sell Raffle tickets for the Restaurant Raffle. It is one of our biggest fund raisers. Selling tickets in front of Mehuron's is a barrel of fun! You can sign up to do that by copying and pasting the following link in your browser. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1HOyOc5GKXVp89p9I2FNwoCH4ptalJ5oS/edit#gid=1830288087

In addition, you should have received an email from Emily Shea with information on how to sell tickets using Rally Up. If not, please reach out to her.

Kolleen and Bobby Kintz presented their introductory speech recently. We learned so much about them and are so grateful they have joined our community!
Dara Torre (center) and Carol Brock (right) represented Rotary and volunteered at a Central Vermont Home Health and Hospice event recently.
Gordon Hoare, Gary Plewak, Al Barillaro, Dave Mackie and Mike Curtin volunteered at the vaccination clinic at Waitsfield Town Hall recently.
Peter Colgan, Shawn Sullivan and Mike Curtin volunteered at the Window Dressers Build event.
Cynthia Hoare and daughter, Stephanie helped at the Window Dressers build event along with a few others who are missing from the photo.
Please continue to send me photos and content stories of all of the good work all of you are doing to make this Valley the special place that it is!
