Good day Rotarians! I trust you have been weathering this roller coaster of a winter as well as any good Vermonter. Some great days of skiing and then some interesting days of learning which roads will swallow up your mud-covered vehicle. Ahh. All in good fun! And March is almost here so we can expect perhaps more of the same! 😉
At the past couple of Rotary meetings we have enjoyed a variety of programs. First we heard about the progress at Neck of the Woods childcare center from Moie Moulton, Exec. Director of NOW. Next we learned about some of the changes in the tax code from our own Bob Holden, CPA. In addition we became acquainted with new member, Emily Shea, and most recently on a Zoom meeting, listened to members share some of their personal stories. Also at the most recent meeting we took the opportunity to simply listen to members share what they would like to see in our Club. Lots of good ideas! Next the Board will be discussing how we can best implement some of these ideas. But most importantly, we need members to continue stepping up and volunteering to take on some roles. We have lots going on, many members doing the really good work and that is a really good thing for the whole Valley!
A sampling of projects from last year included, Rise Against Hunger, NOW projects, Window Dressers, Camp Ta-Kum-Ta, von Trapp nursery project.
Committees that could use a hand are Membership and the Social Committee. There is always room to help by being a Greeter or delivering food to the Community Pantry. You can sign up for either of those by clicking on this link https://www.mrvrotary.org/page/members-only.
Major fund raisers needing help are: Sponsorship committee, Annual Duck Race and Annual Restaurant Raffle.
Expect to hear more about all of these opportunities soon.
But speaking of the Restaurant Raffle, Tom Emory reported that income from the Restaurant Raffle ticket sales exceeded our $15,000 goal! Amazing work, Tom!
We have new member, Amy Patenaude, to thank for leading MRV Rotary into the 21st century with social media. She and Roger Porter wrote a District Grant request for funding for a social media consultant, we received it and soon we will receive the suggestions from the consultant. Wow!
