Happy June! I hope all the dads and granddads had a happy Father's Day.
It is hard to believe that Mad River Valley Rotarians have taken yet another trip around the sun. This Thursday is our annual Changeover Dinner (which will be held at Lareau Farm) which means we will say a great big thank you to Bill Barnes for leading us the past year. We also welcome Mike Curtin into the role for this upcoming year. Following Mike will be Susan Klein next year and then Mike Leichliter the following year. Again, many thanks to all for the commitment to this amazing organization.
As we are now in the summer season, our breakfast meetings are being held outside under the tent at Toast and Eggs. The first one was last week. Our speaker was Sam Talbot-Kelly, Executive Director of Mad River Valley Arts. (Photo below) Thank you, Sam, for making the time to be with us and thank you, Karen Winchell for being our speaker scheduler.
Thank you to the 20+ MRV Rotary members who attended the Club Health Check and Visioning survey and workshop. The Visioning Workshop was held on Wednesday June 5 from 4 - 7:30 p.m. (Photos below) Led by Rotary District leaders, we shared and brainstormed many ideas which we hope will guide us to charting a course for the next 5 years for the club. At this point we are awaiting the District team to process our information and then our next steps will follow.
Volunteer opportunities
I am sure you want to be a part of the biggest annual event in the Valley - The annual Warren 4th of July Parade. There are many ways you can help from installing no parking signs to selling buddy badges, selling T-shirts or selling hotdogs in the field after the event. Reach out to Parade Head honcho, Ben Olds for direction.
Thank you to Jane Macan for helping to coordinate the Open Garden Days once again this year with Sally and Toby von Trapp. This annual joint fundraiser will begin weekends on July 5 and 6 for a total of 10 garden days in July and August. A sign up genius chart has been sent out so that you may volunteer to sit at the reception desk in the beauty of the garden. If you have not received that but would like to help out, please reach out to Jane Macan.
Or if you would like to be a Greeter at an upcoming meeting, use the same link. I just noticed that you can also sign up to sell 2024 Duck Rack Tickets on the same link. This is great fun and my name will be on it soon!
Speaking of the Labor Day weekend Duck Race, if you would like to help but could not attend a recent organization meeting that Kim Olds held, please feel free to reach out to her.
