Good Morning! As I write, the warm fall sun is brightening up my work area and warming the house. Time to open the slider and collect some of that fresh air for cooler days to come.
Now that a successful Duck Race is in our rear view mirror thanks to the managing team of Kim and Ben Olds, Rob Perry and Susan and Karl Klein and many others, it is time to put our efforts into the upcoming Restaurant Raffle. Tom Emory reports that we have about 108 gift certificates to raffle off thanks to lots of help from members. Rallyup will be live Nov 1 and ready to accept all of those purchases for raffle tickets. We should, as usual, plan to start selling paper tickets about Nov. 10 at Mehuron's with a goal of $15K. Stay tuned for more information soon about how you can help by signing up to sell tickets and take it from me, it really is great fun! The Raffle will take place about Jan 20.
Many thanks go to Gordon Hoare, Tom Emory and Roger Porter for their work painting at Neck of the Woods (NOW) childcare center. They worked on the exterior of the building - both the windows & siding - at the end of the building.
Recently the MRV Rotary Board approved a handful of worthy grants. The recipients are Window Dressers, Mad River Chorale, Mad River Ambulance, Central Vermont Sled Pioneers and Hannah's House. In addition at next week's regular morning meeting, members will vote on a grant request for Neck of the Woods. We offer these grants thanks to all of the hard work from Rotarians who contribute their time and efforts to our fund raisers. A fabulous surprise fundraiser this past summer was the von Trapp Garden tours managed by Jane Macan. We hope to continue this very successful event, next summer.
Very soon there will be a lovely plaque on the ShareMRV Farm Stand thanks to Roger Porter This lovely plaque gives Rotarians the credit for the good work that many have contributed there. Keep your eyes open for it.
The MRV Rotary Foundation is now in place with an official Determination Letter which gives it a tax free status. This is important as donations will now be tax free. A huge thank you to Roger Porter who wrangled the massive amount of paperwork necessary to accomplish this. The organization is Valley Rotary Foundation Inc. Contributions can be sent to foundation Treasurer, Dave Ellison. Thank you, Dave, for taking on this role.
We are very grateful to new member, Amy Patenaude, who jumped into MRV Rotary with both feet and is taking on the role of social media guru. One of her responsibilities will be to ensure publicity for MRV Rotary on social media as our good work will thereby reach a diverse community.
