Good Morning! I am writing this on a pretty wet, grey day but I find even days like this provide a different sort of beauty here in the Mad River Valley. On clearer days I have a beautiful view of Mt. Ellen to energize me but today the silvery, oyster clouds are providing a sense of calm - perfect for a warm cup of tea along with reflection, reading and writing.
Coming up soon will be our annual holiday gathering scheduled for Wednesday, December 21 at 5 p.m. at the Castlerock Pub. Please save the date for this festive event! Keep your eyes open for sign ups for this very soon! I hear there might be some fun activities as well!
Many thanks to all who completed our survey and provided input for our decision on meetings. As a result, starting in January we will have two morning meetings on the usual 2nd and 4th Wednesday mornings but will hold our meeting on the 3rd Wednesday on Zoom at 5 p.m. Be sure to bring whatever refreshments you would like! Stay tuned for more info on this.
Dave Koepele reports that on Nov. 10, a handful of generous Rotarians donated their time to the annual reinstall of the Camp Ta-Kum-Ta ice arena. Below is a picture of the members: Roger Porter, Doug Stoehr, Mike Bridgewater, Damon Reed, Rob Grant, Gary Plewak, and Dave Koepele, who deserve kudos! There is also a photo of the rink in use.
We thank Camp Ta-Kum-ta for the photos. In addition, Roger Hartmuth, of the Camp ok'ed the installation of a sign stating the rink was installed by MRV Rotary. The sign production is in the works.
Tom Emory reports that the Restaurant Raffle is going well. Total ticket sales about $8000. Our goal is $15,000 so there is lots of work still to do. You can sign up to help sell tickets at Mehuron's on our Members Only page.
We have about 200 paper tickets left. If anyone wants more paper tickets please contact Tom Emory (tom.emory@outlook.com). Probably the remaining tickets will be sold next weekend.
We now are relying on members using the Rallyup application to build sales by sending invitations to buy tickets on line.
Central Vermont Habitat for Humanity held it's "Bid to Build" auction recently at Mad River Barn. Thank you to the Rotarians who helped with this effort. Karen Winchell, Sean Sullivan and Linda and Howard Levin
each put in a few hours of fun helping with the event.
Well it has nothing to do with Rotary, Raffle Tickets or Hockey Rinks but if you have not seen the movie, "100 Foot Journey" I highly recommend it. A beautiful, sweet, story of family, love and food. Not a curse word in it. Here is a link to the trailer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MWo67uhzoQg
