Good day, Rotarians! What a winter we are having! This truly feels like a good old fashioned VT winter. And despite the weather, Rotarians continue to do the good work we are all so proud to be a part of. And be sure to welcome new MRV Rotarian, Rob Ciappenelli when you see him!
Consider this a “Brief” Newsletter as sending this out is a priority today prior to our meeting later this morning. 😉

Grants Approved
At the recent Board meeting, members voted to approve a grant for $1,200 for the Living Tree Alliance to supplement costs for school field trips supporting their programs.
Thank you, Roger Porter, Doug Stoehr and Shawn Sullivan for your work on these grants.
Volunteer opportunities
As of this writing, Ben Olds is looking for one more volunteer to help with the annual July 4 celebration. Thank you to Kira Bacon, Roger Porter and Mike Curtin for stepping up to help with this Community event along with all the others back of the scenes folks. Please chat this up with non Rotary folks as well and direct them to Howard Levin when they say, “Sure”! I will help!
In addition, you can always sign up to help with Community Pantry deliveries, thank you Doug Stoehr, or if you would like to be a Greeter, click on the following link https://mrvrotary.org/1451/Page/Show?ClassCode=Page&Slug=members-only. Being a greeter is a fabulous way to say hello to folks you have not seen in a while and if you are new to MRV Rotary, a wonderful way to get acquainted. So many ways to get involved!
As we look out at the snow-covered frozen landscapes, we see a world seemingly at rest. But beneath the frozen ground, nature is quietly preparing for spring—roots strengthening, seeds waiting for the warmth to burst into life, sap preparing to flow. In many ways, our club mirrors this season. While folks may see stillness, we are actively laying the groundwork for the impact we’ll make in the months ahead.
Mike Dacey, Executive Director, and Liz Schlegel, Board Member of Waterbury CReW (Community Resilience for the greater Waterbury Area) presented and inspired MRV Rotarians as we evaluate how to establish a similar organization here in the Valley. CReW began after the recent floods in Waterbury and continues to be ready to assist flood affected residents.
Thank you again to all of our members for your continued efforts to support this beautiful Valley. If you know of anyone who might be a good addition to our organization, please invite them to a meeting anytime.
