Happy, August!
To me, there is nothing better than summer in Vermont (sorry, winter-lovers!). August means gardens are in full bloom, we can work and play outside, (but for the deer flies!) and we have some great events in which to participate, including VonTrapp Gardens Tours, Duck Race ticket sales at Mehuron’s Market and the Farmers’ Market, and picking up food to drop at the Community Pantry. Thank you to the members who make these things possible and for those who donate time to make them successful.
We all know that our Immediate Past President Mike Curtin had a serious health scare and it will be several weeks before he starts to feel himself again. I will be extending the current Meal Train opportunity to assist Gail and him, as well as setting up a “Sign Up Genius” form soon to allow folks to sign up to make home visits on a schedule that is best for Mike and Gail. Stay tuned for more as that develops.
If you know of a member who is facing need, please let me know so we can be sure to care for them as best we can, through service and fellowship – things we do exceptionally well.
If you use Facebook or Instagram, be sure to check, follow and share posts that are focused on our club (/MRV.ROTARY on Facebook and @mrvrotary on Instagram) to boost that social media option. The PR team has really been doubling down on getting out the word on our club. Well done.
Finally, this month I will be proposing a minor by-laws addition to allow for Corporate/Business memberships. This will require a full-club vote and will be fully explained with time for questions and clarifications as may be needed.
Thank you, all. See you at breakfast!
